New homeowner, son burned out of house two days after moving in

House fire

Two days after moving into a new home, a woman and her son lost their residence to what North Las Vegas fire officials called an accidental fire.

Around 11:30 p.m. Tuesday, North Las Vegas firefighters responded to a fire at 3840 Spirit Sun Court, near North Fifth Street and East Alexander Road. The 11 units that responded knocked the fire out in about 20 minutes; but not before the house was destroyed, incurring around $210,000 in damages, officials said.

The woman and her son are now staying with family across the street from their scorched abode, officials said.
