Slot technician shot outside Village Pub on Rainbow

Shooting under investigation

A shooting Monday night outside a bar in the southwestern valley is under investigation.

Metro Police spokeswoman Laura Meltzer said the shooting occurred about 9:50 p.m. Monday outside Village Pub & Poker, 7575 S. Rainbow Blvd., near West Robindale Road. She said several people alerted police to gunshots fired outside the bar. The victim, who was transported to University Medical Center with injuries not believed to be life-threatening, was identified by one witness as a slot-machine technician, Meltzer said. It was not known how many times the victim had been shot nor whether the victim had been inside the bar prior to the shooting.

Other details about the shooting, including the gender of the victim, were not available.

Meltzer said Metro detectives were looking into the possibility the shooting was related to a robbery.
