Democrats and Republicans have spent a significant portion of this campaign season blaming the other side for the gridlock in Washington, D.C., over comprehensive immigration reform. Regardless of who is to blame for past failures, the makeup of the next Congress and lawmakers’ willingness to compromise will be crucial if any progress is to be made on the issue. In Nevada, the closely contested 3rd and 4th Congressional District campaigns have drawn the interest of an immigration advocacy group as “races to watch.” America’s Voice, a Washington-based lobbying group that supports “humane” comprehensive immigration reform, according to its website, pegged ...

"The group opposes restrictionist policies and advocates for an approach that would legalize immigrants residing in the country illegally and provide a path to citizenship."
No matter how they spin it or try to camouflage it, that is amnesty. We have already tried that and it does not solve the problem.
Thieves are not allowed to hold their ill gotten gains until their day in court. Why are criminal immigrants allowed to keep practicing their crimes? Just letting them out on bail is like giving robbers another bag full of money when they are released. Those who cannot show proof of legal residence should have to await their day in court in their own country.
That would go a long way toward solving the problem.
None of this matters because Obama issued a temporary EO so nobody has an incentive to do anything.
But once Obama is out the wheels fall off and all of those that signed up will be in a quagmire.
Particularly if they admitted to identity theft
Immigration reform will not happen unless Republicans agree to it. It will be filibustered in the Senate even if Democrats controlled the House.
Republicans will never agree to an immigration reform bill from someone like Obama or Hillary.
The only chance for immigration reform is get a Republican president elected and propose a bill like Bush did and that bill was strongly opposed by Obama.
Obama had a Democrat controlled House and a super majority in the Senate for over a year. They would have easily passed some immigration reform bill.
He punted on immigration reform. He did not care about it. He broke his promise to Hispanics.
If you were brought here before your 16th birthday and are now 35 never been in trouble your probably not a threat to national security . We need to find a way to punish those who EWI entered without inspection a civil misdemeanor without destroying their lives . The hatred that many from the republican side address this issue is apparent and I will never support a candidate that cannot think past their poor understanding of the current law . What should a path to citizenship look like ? I would say #1 A stiff fine #2 Medical and security inspection .#3 10 year probation . #4 Financial independence from any government welfare programs . Incarceration and deportation are both expensive and proven ineffective . Make laws that make money instead of making laws that cost money .
"I support the Dream Act because it is consistent with a policy reflecting we're a nation of laws and a nation of immigrants,"Oceguera responded in the Sun survey.......... In other words he's an idiot, or he thinks we are.

Anyone who would give away a large part of our country and economy to get elected will face serious backlash from majority voters.
Warrior is onto something. We MUST SECURE the border before ANY discussion of allowing a FEW exceptions to our laws. Obama's EO will be rescinded. Our economy cannot revive with 2 million more work permits for illegals--young illegals who've already cost us $150K each for K-12, thousands for medical care, free housing for many, food stamps 'cause little bro was born here...
Roslenda....Backlash from majority voters? the things that you would like too see happen just aren't! In many parts of the SouthWest Hispanics are already a majority and, as the fastest growing ethnic subset, will only get larger. We know what the Obama administration will do. We don't know what Romney will do but we can read the tea leaves. The LDS' fastest growing missions are in Central and South America. It is rapidly becoming a Hispanic church. The business community generally supports vague legalization so as to keep low wage workers available and compliant. Romney is an LDS business guy. Do you really think that he'll round 'em up and send them on their way?

Nothing against Hispanics. Have heard them say that immigration is NOT an issue. Still anyone saying employing 2 million illegals is more important than 24 million Americans is not going to be elected. And if those who are in office, do ANY form of amnesty, their days are shortly numbered. Romney will try to find middle ground but only after our economic priorities are addressed. And those ECONOMIC PRIORITIES PRECLUDE paying for lawbreakers to have a free ride. It would be up to Congress and there are few there that are so stupid as to ....
SgtRock: Obama had a super majority and still punted BECAUSE Congress would not, will not, can not be so stupid when we have 24 million Americans needing work to favor 12-15 million illegals who keep breaking our laws by staying, keep bankrupting our governments, K-12, law enforcement, social welfare, medicaid.... They / Congress needs to get off dead center and enforce criminalization of employing illegals. As soon as O and company move it on down the road, there is no more of the failing to see employers willfully employing illegals. 12% of people employed in Nevada are illegals. FIRE THEM and HIRE AMERICANS.
wharfrat: We don't have to round them up. Stop employing them. Stop housing, medicating, feeding (food stamps), paying them to have anchor babies. They'll figure it out and GO HOME. Others will STOP COMING HERE.
UNDER 4 YEARS OF OBAMA THE UNEMPLOYMENT RATE OF MINORITIES HAS NOW GONE UP TO 11% !!
Obama bad for America bad for minorities.. Click for proof..
