Letter to the readers:

State needs an agenda for all of us

What should the candidates be talking about, working on?

Dear reader, Every election year, the Sun talks to candidates about the issues and their plans for office should they be elected. Two questions I like to hear candidates answer are: 1. What are the issues people are talking to you about? 2. What’s your vision for Nevada in 20 years? The answer to the first question this year has been almost unanimous, no matter the party or position: improving the economy and education. The answers to the second question vary greatly. However, I appreciate when people share their thoughts, regardless of whether I agree with them. We all come ...

  1. We have newspapers embracing ideas like "the unemployment numbers are rigged" when a large portion of America is embracing hate talk radio, Fox News and teapot ideas, there is no room for a rational debate. The birthers, bigots and blowhards have made rational debate impossible. The fact that a Pailin or Hannity is looked upon as a rational voice shows that normal debate and discourse is impossible. The main agenda should be to marginalize the voices of hate and reaction.

Anyone that wields an axe to silence BIG BIRD should be condemned and not allowed at the debate table. This includes an awful little man whoes first name rhymes with "worm"

  2. I the next 2 decades, Nevada has to diversify its economic base. Not just tourism and gold. We need new political leaders with new visions for Nevada. Our elected officials have to attract businesses to the state. They need to examine how other states have done it. Many have done so with great success. Tax relief is one way. Another is a stellar education system. The way to do the latter is with more options: Charter schools, home schooling, and school vouchers. The tide of new people to Nevada likely have, or want, these education options and will be reluctant to move to Nevada if they are not available.

The inventors of Big Bird are millionaires as a result.

  4. The number one priority in Carson City is to pass serious signifcant real government worker union reform.

That will improve the quality of education and all government services especially at the local level.

That will free up money to be spent on important spending instead of wasteful spending.

No taxes unles there is signifcant real government worker union reform.

  5. 1.Term limits on all elected officials, local and federal representatives both in Nevada. 2. Gross receipt taxes on Banking, Gaming and Mining. 3. Require 100% bonding on any mortgage bank that obtains above 20% share of the market. 3. E-Verify 100% employment. 4.Build Yucca Mountain, 100 % of the proceeds going to Nevada property owners. 5. Privatize the DMV 6. Or Nevada could fire Harry Reid and all most all of Nevada's problems would disappear, refer to #1.

  6. The things I would like to see happen for the state of Nevada,is for the state to be out of debt and have a surplus in the coming years.Increasing the taxes on mining co's that operate in our state would be a good start.

The next thing I would like to see happen is more culture for our state.Along with more university's that could bring some of the best teacher's and student's into our state.

  7. "Vision" will come only if we can continue the great strides that have been made by ordinary people rejecting the tyranny laid upon us by the Reids and Adelsons by registering as "nonpartisans".

Each political party is equally destructive to the common person and the only way can minimize that destructive force is by taking away the power WE have given them.

You can do this by calling your county clerk and asking for the form to re-register as a "nonpartisan". Leave off you phone number and you can stop the robo calls and "polling".
