Body found on Lake Mead shoreline ID’d as suburban Chicago man

Approximate location where body was found

The National Park Service has identified the man whose body was found washed up Thursday afternoon on the shoreline of Lake Mead.

Park rangers found the body of Kenneth Ritter, 54, Naperville, Ill., a Chicago suburb, shortly before 2 p.m. on the Arizona side of the shoreline north of Castle Cove and across from Sentinel Island in the Lake Mead National Recreation Area. The location is about two and a half miles northeast of the Hoover Dam.

Rangers said an inflatable kayak with a personal flotation device on board was found near the body.

The incident is under investigation and Ritter’s cause and manner of death will be released by the Mohave County Coroner’s Office.
