DENVER — Somewhere in the wonky blizzard of facts, statistics and studies thrown out onstage here Wednesday night was a fundamental philosophical choice about the future of America, quite possibly the starkest in nearly three decades. As President Barack Obama and Mitt Romney faced off for the first time, their largely zinger-free styles may have disguised a fierce clash of views not only over taxes, spending and health care, but over the very role of government in American society in a time of wrenching problems. On one side was an incumbent who, while recognizing that government is not the solution ...

"Debate was a clash over government's role" As it should have been. The difference between the two is irreconcilible. One, Obama, wants to make more people dependent on government bureaucracy; the other, Romney, wants people to be free to pursue their own dreams, unfetterred by Washington D.C. One, Obama, wants to regulate every aspect of our lives because we're "too dumb, too lazy, or unable to fend for ourselves, while the other, Romney, sees us as capable of determining our own future. The choice, for me, is a no-brainer. Come this November, vote R&R or Obama will certainly, as Joe Biden put it, "put the chains back on us."
The debate was a big let down compared to the build up. None of the important issues were discuss as one would expect. The moderator, Jim Lehrer, did the American people a dis-service by not pushing Mitt Romney and the President answer the questions.
The expectations were, we would see contrast between Romney and Obama on how they are going to operate this country under the rule of law with some details. Jim Lehrer let Romney ramble, at point Romney appeared to go off the ledge.
Just from what was displayed in the debate by Romney and Obama, this will not change the decision of people who have decided on who to vote for on November 6, 2012. What this debate has raised, is the style and the approach of the President. The President has done a lot to help American. We as Americans have not given the President credit for all that he has done. Much has been done without help from the Republican congress.
By going to the websites of Romney and Obama, you can will get a better picture of how these two will govern. Their plans are in detail. You can fact-check on your own. It's clear if you do your homework the President's plan is much better than Mitt Romney.
This independent voter prefers the big picture vision of the President. In promoting Education, Energy, Technology, Infrastructure, and the approach of assisting other countries with freedom and democracy without placing American boots on ground to achieve those ends.
President Obama wins re-election by 6 to 8 points.
President Obama wins re-election by 6 to 8 points.
I'll take that bet.
The President got a lesson last night on everything discussed. Whether it was the economy or the ACA.
