Michelle Obama reaches out to women voters at Reno rally

Updated Wednesday, Oct. 3, 2012 | 2 p.m.

RENO — Taking the stage today at a campaign rally in Reno on her 20th wedding anniversary, first lady Michelle Obama described not only why she fell in love with Barack Obama, but why she believes he is a good president. “When I met Barack, he had everything going for him,” she said. “He was charming, talented and very smart. But that is not why I married him. “What truly made me fall in love with Barack Obama was his character. His decency. His honesty. His compassion and conviction.” In an oblique reference to Republican presidential hopeful Mitt Romney’s comments ...

  1. Shelley Berkley not far off with her comment of the President winning Nevada by minimum of 8 points.

The projections are within 6 to 8 points.

  2. The incredible love our President shares with his wife - a great example for all Americans.

  3. Thank goodness the First Lady has the use of Air Force Two at taxpayer's expense when she makes campaign stops. If not, she would have to raise as much as the Romneys, or drain her husband's campaign fund to pay for her travels.

  4. "The incredible love our President shares with his wife - a great example for all Americans"

I don't remember you writing that about George Bush....or Bill Clinton for that matter.

  5. I get why people may have strong feelings toward the President. But why attack his spouse?

There wasn't near the vitriol for Laura Bush that Michelle Obama faces every day from the fringe, hate-filled right.

Mrs. Bush regularly campaigned and traveled for appearances in 2002, 2004 and 2006.

It's too bad the petty, blind hatred of the right overrides logic. They think there is much to gain from attacking the President's spouse. They're wrong, as usual.

I totally AGREE with you 100%.

  7. I think the First Lady is a loving, kind, generous, beautiful, classy and very intelligent woman, who is a devoted mother and wife. The First Lady cares about the American People.

I am so PROUD to say I support President Barack Obama and the First Lady, Michelle Obama! Thank you both for caring about the American People!!!

  10. Facts for you-There isn't a leader of any country on the planet that can control energy prices. Oil & gas are world wide traded commodities-the prices of which noone can control. Blaming a president of either party for high or low energy prices is simply idiotic & a waste of time.
