“Crazy Girls” at the Riviera celebrates its 25th anniversary in 2012.

There are no ifs, ands -- but plenty of butts. After nearly 17,000 shows, the topless temptresses of “Crazy Girls” at the Riviera celebrate their 25th anniversary Wednesday night. But the fun got underway today with an attempt to create the Longest Butt Lineup ever staged on the Strip. Call it a two-day festival of flesh!
For more than two decades, the famous “Crazy Girls” pose in the bronze statue in front of the Riviera has been far more than just an advertisement for Norbert Aleman’s show. It’s become a lucky tourist attraction with visitors giving many an extra pat on the back for good luck.
Gorgeous girls ages 21 and older lined up this morning in appropriate attire of barely-there bikinis, boy shorts and showbiz panties to re-create the famous lineup pose. It’s a two-hour dream come true for fans of the female form and fan photographers.
“When we first unveiled it, the iconic poser created quite a stir,” Norbert, creator of the show, told me. “There was a real fight about it. People wanted it removed. People wanted it hidden away. Then there were more people who wanted it kept there.
“Now 25 years later, it is still one of the most recognizable images on the Strip. When we opened a quarter century ago, we had no idea the statue and the show would become such significant parts of Vegas entertainment history.”
Riviera President Andy Choy said: “The controversy that surrounded the show when it opened in 1987 boosted its popularity to unbelievable heights, and the sentiment holds true today as we begin the show’s next 25-year run at the Riviera. I’m proud to say that all of the nearly 17,000 ‘Crazy Girls’ shows have been here at the Riviera.”

With its glass, star-lit exterior, visitors can't miss the Riviera when driving down the Strip. As the first high-rise to open on the Las Vegas Strip, featuring a nine-story hotel, the Riviera has seen more than 50 years as an entertainment destination in Las Vegas. Top bill acts like Liberace, Dean Martin and the long-running Splash revue (closed in 2006) have graced its showrooms over time.
The Riviera still offers its share of entertainment options with topless revue "Crazy Girls," a comedy club and "Illusions," starring Jan Rouven.
The 100,000-square foot casino has been featured in many films like "Casino," "Austin Powers" and "21." Although the hotel has passed through a long list of owners over the years it has always held on to it's unique theme (for Las Vegas) in that it lacks any particular theme. It also features a William Hill Race & Sports Book walk-up betting window right off the sidewalk on the Strip.
The Riviera has dining options well covered, from seafood and steaks at R Steak and Seafood, a variety of breakfast, lunch and dinner fare at Banana Leaf Café to an international cuisine at the R Buffet.
