Immigration status of UNLV student senate candidate sparks controversy

War of words plays out in student newspaper letters section

Election Day has come and gone, but the name-calling, accusations and uncivil nature of election season are still playing out at UNLV. In October, the Consolidated Students of University of Nevada Judicial Council invalidated the student government elections due to procedural errors and disorganization. 1. In a way Mark Ciavola's comments are almost comical because nobody "impli[ed] that CSUN is somehow racist," but rather they openly stated that Mark Ciavola & Rachel Stephens were racist in their words and motives.

If nothing else Mark Ciavola has proven to lack morals & ethics, while pursuing partisan political vendettas.
He spent years harassing Dina Titus, a political foe of Mark Ciavola's personal friend Joe Heck, until she finally resigned.

Recently Mark Ciavola decided to go a step farther and attempt to remove funding for the UNLV run preschool that John Oceguera, Joe Heck's most recent political opponent, sends his daughter to.
By the way, Mark Ciavola succeeded in cutting the CSUN funding for it in half, while repeatedly threatening to remove all funding, and it has caused the preschool to reduce the number of children it can accept.

I guess investing in the community that invests in you isn't high on Mark Ciavola's political agenda.

  2. He's been in this country since he was two and has applied for Obama's quasi-amnesty program. Does anyone seriously believe that ICE, under this administration, is going to even think about picking him up? Sounds more like he got sucked into petty political squabbling and/or soap opera. probably need to clean out the whole lot of them and hold new elections. And maybe cut out some of the bennies.

  3. Immigration is a difficult Situation to deal with always

  4. he's a liar! no one threatened him!

  5. He's lived in this country for 18 years and is only now trying to become a citizen?
