Contributing photographer Tom Donoghue was at Fremont Street Experience on Wednesday afternoon for an extraordinary photo gallery of the annual Fan Fest that kicks off NASCAR Champion’s Week in Las Vegas.
Donoghue reported that the Top 12 NASCAR drivers of the year -- including fan favorites Dale Earnhardt Jr., Jimmie Johnson and Jeff Gordon -- were greeted by thousands of fans as they walked the red carpet at the downtown event hosted by Las Vegas Motor Speedway.
“Defending the Caveman” star Kevin Burke hosted “So You Think You’re Smarter Than a Fifth-Grader?” at the Third Street Stage. 2012 NASCAR champion Brad Keselowski, 2011 NASCAR champion Tony Stewart and young Maria from Lomie Heard Elementary School at Nellis Air Force Base teamed up for the victory.
Highlights today include the Victory Lap at 3 p.m. that shuts down the Strip, the After the Lap Q+A at 5 p.m. at PH Live at Planet Hollywood and the Stewie Awards at nearby Sammy Hagar’s Cabo Wabo Cantina.
A rundown of 2012 NASCAR Champion’s Week was posted Wednesday.
