Five gifts you can get only in Las Vegas

North End of the Strip

The World’s Largest Gift Shop on the northwest corner of Sahara Avenue and Las Vegas Boulevard is seen Thursday, July 28, 2011.

With the Thanksgiving holiday in the rear-view mirror, it’s time to break out the shopping lists for Christmas and Hanukkah.

While tablets, video games and toys such as the re-released Furby are expected to be hot items this holiday season, people looking for gifts with a bit more Vegas flair won’t have to look too hard.

Whether you’re looking to spend a lot or a little, here are five gift ideas you’ll find only in Las Vegas:

    • Gift shop goodies

Nothing says Las Vegas like an Elvis shot glass. Or maybe an ashtray with the city’s skyline emblazoned on it. From coffee mugs to lighters to bottle openers and miniature replicas of the "Welcome to Fabulous Las Vegas" sign, gift shops up and down Las Vegas Boulevard have a huge selection of Las Vegas-branded goods that make for great stocking stuffers.

    • The unveiling of the gold ATM at Golden Nugget on Jan. 5, 2011.

      Casino keepsakes

For the history buff on your list, trinkets and keepsakes from Las Vegas’ iconic casinos capture the spirit of the city for a whole lot less money than you might spend on any given night at the craps table. Customized casino chips can be found at gift shops at most hotels, and the Gambler’s Book Shop offers used decks of cards from now-defunct casinos. For a gift that’s worth its weight in gold, head to the Golden Nugget, where a vending machine sells souvenir gold coins.

    • Made in Vegas

If you want to give a gift that goes beyond the Strip, try sharing some of the local products that can be found only in Las Vegas. For people with a sweet tooth, Ethel M Chocolates offers gourmet treats, including satin crèmes, liqueur-filled chocolates and almond butter crisps, which all are made on-site at the Henderson factory. For something a bit harder, try one of the craft whiskeys, rums or vodkas made at the Las Vegas Distillery in Henderson.

    • Exotics Racing has added Lamborghini's latest high-performance car, the Aventador, to the line of exotic cars it offers at its operation at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway.

      Living Las Vegas

Give the gift of wish fulfillment this holiday season with one of many extreme experiences offered by companies around town. Whether you want to drive exotic cars, go skydiving indoors or learn to pole dance, Las Vegas offers plenty of chances to do something out of the ordinary.

    • Holiday lights

The “Welcome to Fabulous Las Vegas” sign just south of the Strip has welcomed millions of visitors to the city since the iconic monument was built more than 50 years ago. Give that special someone a piece of Las Vegas history by buying one of the used yellow light bulbs that frame the sign from Las Vegas Lights. Each bulb comes in a satin-lined wooden box and with a certificate of authenticity that tells when the light bulb was used on the sign.
