A long-awaited study of pedestrian traffic on the Las Vegas Strip shows 17 bottlenecks in front of some of the most well-known casinos on Las Vegas Boulevard. Released Wednesday, the study was ordered last spring as part of a long-term campaign to “clean up” the Strip, which Clark County commissioners have characterized as becoming chaotic in recent years. The area of highest pedestrian traffic detailed in the study occurred on the Saturday of Memorial Day weekend, around 9:30 p.m., when 2,633 people were counted over a 15-minute period. “This location was categorized as having an unacceptable ‘level of service,’” said ...

how much was the study?
this is ridiculous !!! the bottlenecks on the strip have been going on for years . they are just now finding that out !!!! my goodness !!!! you forgot the one by the venetian that the prostitute peddlers atand at where only two people can pass by . the one also by new york new york . one of these card peddlers got stabbed and killed by the planet hollywood by the lady from ca. who got pissed off when one got shoved in her face . that is a bad bottleneck also . i agree how much was spent on this ? you only have to watch the strip for a half hour around 10 pm to see how the sidewalks are bad . the county doesnt work on a saturday night at 10 pm ?
You've got some of these "street performers" putting up cones to block off pedestrian traffic so thy can perform. Ridiculous. Get rid of them.
It used to be fun walking up and down the Strip. Now it's an obstacle course of street performers, Elmo's, Elvis, time share shysters and sex card peddlers.
Get rid of all of them.
As an owner of a Condo in the center of it all I often walk the Strip and do not see it as a terrible experience. I find it highly ironic the the places I routinely encounter the "porn slappers" did not make the list of 17.
The vast majority of these bottlenecks are the result of poor planning by developers, where pedestrian traffic is funneled because of poor design by the very people who called for the study. I have serious doubts the county should be listening to the people who caused the problems when considering solutions.
What about in front of TI?
Before or during a show.
I find the crotch high fire hydrant, in the middle of the sidewalk, at the Southeast corner of LV Blvd. and Flamingo (in front of Margarettaville) particularly amusing. A civil engineer's sick joke? Everything that happens on the strip just adds to its "charm", leave it be.
I started visiting Las Vegas in the 90's when you could walk with ease on either side of Las Vegas Blvd.. Now, you are shoulder to shoulder with other pedestrians ALL THE TIME. There are several reasons for this such as all the hotels/casinos building right up to the sidewalks,an increased number of street performers, not managing loiterers and homeless as well as letting drunk people roam around on the sidewalks and streets bumping into people.
Do you really need a study to realize this is a problem? Just take a walk on the strip.
Either way, now that you know it's a problem...FIX IT!!!!
I wonder what would happen if a casino put a sign out that said the costumed characters are unlicensed and that you don't have to tip them to take a picture.
