Car crushes man
A man was crushed underneath his car and killed Tuesday morning after the car slipped off a jack stand while he was working on repairs.
Metro Police officials said the 32-year-old man was repairing a Saturn sedan in the driveway of a home in the 3700 block of North Walnut Road in the northeast valley. When the jack stand slipped, the car’s left front rotor fell on his chest around 11:35 a.m.
Officials said neighbors lifted the vehicle off his chest and called 911, but it was too late. The man was transported to University Medical Center Trauma, where he was pronounced dead.
Metro Police are investigating the incident.

Jack stands don't "slip" on their own. The car must not have been in park and with the emergency brake on. Otherwise someone kicked the jack stand or the jack stand wasn't level.
always put cinder blocks or a spare tire under the car as back up, sad story
also sad that some of the distasteful commentors that frequent other newspaper's websites are trying to make there hateful and inappropriate comments here.
a very sad story
Also, try not to work alone, and if you do have a cell phone hand and tell someone you are going to be working under the car.
mred very good advice on your last wo posts. I agree.
