The suspect shot Wednesday afternoon as he emerged from the bathroom inside a Henderson Albertsons has been identified as 36-year-old Jake Goldsborough.

The officers involved in the Wednesday night shooting of Jake Goldsborough in an Albertsons grocery store have been identified by Henderson Police.

The SWAT officers who shot Goldsborough were Sgt. Todd Wellman, who has worked for Henderson Police since 1990, officer Ritch Melchert, a Henderson Police officer since 1997, and officer Wavie Reed, who has worked for Henderson Police since 2000, the department said in a release.

They are all on routine paid administrative leave while the shooting is under investigation.

Goldsborough, who has prior arrests in three states, remained in critical condition Thursday at Sunrise Hospital, a day after he raised what appeared to be a gun at Henderson Police SWAT officers in the Albertsons at 190 N. Boulder Highway and subsequently was shot.

Detectives later determined the 36-year-old had a pellet gun.

Keith Paul, Henderson Police spokesman, said Goldsborough was booked by proxy on three counts of assault with a deadly weapon. He has prior arrest records in Nevada, California and Washington, police said. Among his prior arrests was an incident in Henderson in 2003, when Goldsborough was accused of smashing the windows of a parked car, police said.

The investigation continues into why Goldsborough barricaded himself Wednesday in the bathroom of the grocery store.
