Man shot in the neck while driving on Interstate 15

A 49-year-old man was shot in the neck this morning while driving on Interstate 15 South, near Valley of Fire State Park, the Nevada Highway Patrol reported.

The victim heard a loud pop as he was driving about 4:35 a.m. and saw the windows of his Saturn sedan shatter, Nevada Highway Patrol Trooper Loy Hixson said.

He then realized he had been shot and was bleeding from the back of his neck, Hixson said.

Hixson said the suspected shooter was riding in a gold Chevy Suburban or Tahoe SUV.

The victim was transported to University Medical Center. His condition was not known, Hixson said.

Nevada Highway Patrol and Metro Police are investigating the incident.

  1. Yeah! More guns...that's the answer if you want higher rates of death and long term injury that is.

  2. (Cue Mark Schaffer and his cut-and-pasted commentary ... the same as he posts on every similar story.)
