The Metro Police officer involved in a Sunday night shooting has been identified as Jacquar Roston.
Roston shot a man in the leg while responding to a domestic violence call at the Hollywood Regional Park parking lot.
Police said a woman called dispatch about 10:20 p.m. and said her ex-boyfriend had beaten her and damaged her vehicle. Police found the woman and man inside her car at 1600 S. Hollywood Blvd. near Charleston Boulevard, officials said.
Police removed the woman from the car and began speaking to her ex-boyfriend, officials said. In the midst of the conversation, Roston shot the man in the leg, police said.
It was not clear what prompted the shooting.
The man was transported to University Medical Center with nonlife-threatening injuries. No one else was injured.
Roston, 36, has been a member of Metro Police since 2009. He was placed on paid administrative leave while the incident is under investigation.
