1 killed, 1 injured in weekend motorcycle crash

A motorcyclist was killed and a passenger injured in a collision with a pickup truck at the intersection of Rainbow Boulevard and U.S. 95 on Saturday, police said.

David Sabatino, 45, of Las Vegas was riding his Harley-Davidson on U.S. 95 North about 10:55 p.m. with a 51-year-old female passenger, Nevada Highway Patrol Trooper Loy Hixson said. He exited at Rainbow Boulevard and made a left turn onto the wrong side of the road, Hixson said.

Sabatino collided with a Ford F-150 pickup stopped in the left-turn lane of Rainbow Boulevard, Hixson said. Both Sabatino and the passenger were thrown from the motorcycle, he said.

Sabatino was pronounced dead at the scene, and the passenger was transported to University Medical Center in critical condition, police said. The driver of the pickup truck suffered minor injuries and was not taken to the hospital, police said.
