The Democrats’ storied turnout machine lived up to its reputation last week, delivering victories to President Barack Obama, Congressman-elect Steven Horsford and enough Democratic legislative candidates to keep the party in control of the state Legislature. But, matched against a flawed opponent, one Republican managed to best the machine. U.S. Sen. Dean Heller eked out the narrowest of victories against Democrat Shelley Berkley, overcoming a distinct voter registration disadvantage, a lack of name recognition where most of the people in the state live and the Democrats’ formidable ground game. Democrats argue Heller didn’t best the machine so much as he ...

40k none of the above
"...But there just weren't enough people willing to stomach her apparent corruption charges and vote for her...
Author, stop whining. You, yourself, call her apparently corrupt and you complain she lost? Amazing? I'd be more concerned if she had won.
So it will need to be someone with a gaming background like Reid, Ensign,Sandoval?
I thought Heller v Berkely would be a close one but that Ethics investigation was ultimately what did her in.
We are now going to become democrats. We need to raise taxes on casinos, unions and sales taxes as well as the phone and property taxes. We need increased spending, more food stamps and no copay doctor visits for everyone. School class sizes must be reduced to 10 per class even if it means running two shifts in schools to do that. Unions must be taxed at 75% of gross proceeds.
She lost my vote because she is more interested in Israel than rural Nevada.
He overcame it because the Obama people getting illegals to vote forgot to mention who else they were suppose to vote for. Can't really teach them illegals more than one thing.
Shelly is gone hip hip horay
I voted for the Repub, first time in my life, because she seemed like a sneak. I don't like sneaks. Go hang out with your doctor husband and con the patients, Shell.
Heller won because he wasn't Shelley Berkely
Never in my life have I seen a more arrogant, flawed, egotistical, selfish, inarticulate, unworthy candidate than Berkley. Well...not since Jill Derby anyway. She would have turned out worse than Ensign and Gibbons combined.
You're right on one thing - it's we nonpartisans that do the actual electing in this state.
If you're fed up with BOTH parties then call your county clerk and re-register as a nonpartisan then you have the most important vote in the state. Leave off you phone number unless you like getting those annoying phone calls.
