A pedestrian was hit by a vehicle Thursday evening in a Henderson crosswalk. The collision occurred around 5 p.m. at Anthem Parkway and Somersworth Drive, Henderson Police spokesman Keith Paul said. The pedestrian, a female, was airlifted to University Medical Center, Paul said. No details on her injury status were available. The driver did stop, but Paul said the accident remained under investigation.

I walk everyday in Green Valley, Henderson, near the Arroyo Grande Sports Complex. You have to be alert. Drivers, YOU ARE TO YIELD TO ALL PEDESTRIANS IN A CROSSWALK. PERIOD. Too many close calls as I cross Arroyo Grande at Santiago twice each 3 mile walk I take. I always have a very good camera phone set to take license plates in my pocket. Most of us walk for good healthy exercise. Hard to stay healthy when drivers are not watching for folks in the crosswalks.
Mark, it's a sad state of affairs when on a leisurely walk you're prepared to take photos of license plates to help identify dangerous drivers...
Much of the blame for LV having so many "cowboys" driving on our roadways goes to the lax enforcement of traffic laws. Without a doubt, everyone who drives in this valley reading this post knows exactly what I mean. Tailgating, speeding, illegal lane changes, driving drunk; you name it and and we are subjected to those who somehow believe it's their right to do it and the rest of us be damned! The attitude extends to vehicles with out-of-state license plates, as well. And, why not? They see our crazy drivers ignoring just about every traffic law on the books and believe it's a free-for-all on the streets. And, they are pretty much correct. The judges are far too lenient on those who endanger the rest of us with their recklessness, knocking speeding tickets down to parking tickets so as not to alert insurance companies just how much a liability some of their insured actually are. And those given such breaks believe it gives them a license to continue on their merry ways. I don't know about you, but I never feel safe on LV roadways. And driving in this city? It's no pleasure.
When was the last time a Driver that Killed a Pedestrian in a Crosswalk Go To JAIL ??? Time to get New LAWS and New Judges that will send these Drivers to JAIL , Only in NEVADA a Driver can get away with KILLING a Pedestrian in a Crosswalk,

I agree about being prepared, I have a dash cam on my car because I drive 77 miles each way to work and you can't begain to believe what I encounter daily.

Last week I was in the vicinity of Galleria Mall on Sunset. I was about 200 feet from an intersection when the light ahead of me turned green. Opposite direction cars had been turning left crossing my lane(obviously on a green arrow) but when the light turned green I counted 6 cars. Yes 6 CARS turn left. Obviously on a red arrow. I started shaking my head. Until I noticed that the lead car in the lane next to me, crossing the intersection, was a POLICE CAR!!!! Absolutely no attempt to stop anyone. Look, I know police have a difficult job, I understand that. I respect that and thank them for it. But seriously??? 6 cars??
