We never know until the last minute which supermodel will be on the cover of the annual Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Edition; however, Vegas DeLuxe has learned exclusively that the 2013 issue will feature our gorgeous showgirls.
Be they in bikinis or baubles, beads or feathers, our showgirls will give the New York-based models a good run for their money. S.I. casting agents have just about finished selecting the showgirls for layouts, and photographers arrive here next week for the shoots.
The layouts will be part of the 50th anniversary issue, but it’s unknown if one or two of the supermodels will be here backstage during the photo shoots at the shows. As they have in past years, the swimwear models with 2012 cover girl Kate Upton will be here for launch party events in February flying in directly after David Letterman reveals the cover cutie on his CBS late-night talk show.
Earlier this year, S.I. execs confirmed to me that a 3-year deal was added onto the expiring 3-year contract, and they expect to extend it for several more years. “Where else could we go but Vegas; it’s the best, fun party place in the world to celebrate,” a senior exec told me.
PRESIDENTIAL CELEBRATION: Early this morning, the wax likeness of President Barack Obama was moved at Madame Tussauds in the Venetian to pose with endorsers Eva Longoria and Leonardo DiCaprio. The celebration was just long enough for contributing photographer Erik Kabik to snap photos before the president was moved to the “Spirit of America” room with its Oval Office setting where he’ll settle for four more years!
HOLLYWOOD AUTOGRAPHS: The celebrity count has risen to 40 for Saturday’s Hollywood Autograph Show at LVH from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. My longtime friends Morgan Fairchild (“Flamingo Road”) and Joan Severance (“Wiseguy”) will be joined by my friends Linda Blair (“The Exorcist”), Jennilee Harrison (“Three’s Company”) and sex siren Sybil Danning.
Fans will be able to get the veteran TV stars to pose for photographs and sign memorabilia. Also there: Paul Michael Glaser (“Starsky & Hutch”), Antonio “Huggy Bear” Fargas, Chris Atkins (“The Blue Lagoon”) and comics Rip Taylor and Murray Langston (the unknown comic beneath the brown bag).
