SWAT officers shot and killed an armed fugitive after a two-hour standoff near Eastern Avenue and St. Rose Parkway early this morning, Henderson Police said. Police received a report about 11:30 p.m. Tuesday from a woman who said her boyfriend had a gun and had assaulted her, Henderson Police spokesman Keith Paul said. When police located the man, he fled until he was trapped against a fence surrounding a concrete wash, police said. That’s when he pulled out a gun, Paul said. Paul said the 36-year-old man, who police later discovered was wanted on a Nevada warrant for violating probation, ...

So how many officer related shooting, paid administrative leaves of duty does Metro have now?
10, 20, 30?
Ummm Ashley, if you actually read the article prior to comment, you would know that asking for Metro statistics in a Henderson Police article shows your ignorance.
AshleyAshley,
This did not involve Metro. ;-)
Just Another Groovy Day!
To AshleyAshley. Irregardless, "Paid Administrative Leave" does not mean the individuals in this shooting do not report to work. They are essentially "gunless" and work inside on administrative details
Next time we will let you respond to the call Ashley. Just make sure you don't shoot until the suspect shoots first to test out his aim..let me know how it works out after 10 20 30 times:)
They love to shoot and kill people! Do you really think this man deserved to be murdered? Just an excuse to pull the trigger and kill. If they're not running people over at a crosswalk and killing them, they're kicking them in the head.

Ignorant comment.
These guys have a tough job. There's a lot of scum in this city that can't be dealt with by saying "pretty please" and a pat on the back.
@z_white_knight: A convicted felon who assaults his girlfriend and then points his gun at police is going to get shot, in any town and in any state. If you don't want to get shot by police, don't commit crimes, don't assault people, and don't point a gun at the police officers (who, by the way, have families at home hoping they come home safely from working the graveyard shift).
@fmfao I agree!!! Lets let all these people respond to these calls to see what would happen!!! In Saturdays shooting I'm just grateful that suspect had extremely bad aim! I would love to put all these people in the shoes of those officers that got shot at... I'm sure it would change their mind a little. Or even put you in my shoes to get that horrible phone call that the one you love was just out protecting his COMMUNITY and got into a shooting. Have some compassion. They are not the bad guys!!!! Stop the ignorance!!!!! Enough said...
Ever hear of tranquilizer guns?
Tear gas?
Anestizine?
Or yeah, that's what the Russians used on the terrorists.
SWAT =
Shoot
Without
Asking or
Thinking
I don't get some people on here. It said there was a two-hour standoff where the guy was threatening to shoot himself. And this is only after he assaulted his girlfriend and then attempted to evade police. Some of you talk like this was just some poor innocent guy walking down the street and the cops showed up and gunned him down.
Tranquilizers? Tear gas? Really? This isn't a movie! A guy doesn't get hit with a dart and magically fall asleep in 1 second. The guy has a loaded gun in a public forum and you want tear gas? Guess the thought that while he's choking nd coughing on the gas, he'll probably start firing randomly toward the police or anywhere else didn't occur to you.
He could have done any number of things to avoid being shot and killed today. Not assaulted his girlfriend. Not ran from the police. Not pulled a gun out. Not pointed it a the police. If he does ANY ONE of those things, he's still alive.
Some of you need to use the "preview comment" feature to actually read the garbage you post before you post it.
Thank you Henderson Officers. Although I don't like the fact people get killed, I appreciate the difficult job you do.
@bob365,
You are kidding right? I actually laughed out loud, or lol'd, when I read your ignorant comment. You're a funny guy bob, take a tranquilizer to a gun fight. I just chuckled again when I wrote that. Hahahaha, funny guy!
Keep up the good work Henderson Police Dept. We've got your back.
