Sen. Dean Heller rode to a close but safe victory over Rep. Shelley Berkley Tuesday night, earning a public mandate to occupy the Senate seat he was appointed to in mid-2011. In fending off Berkley, he defied both the Democrats’ registration advantage and the power of their storied get-out-the-vote machine. Heller won by slightly more than 12,000 votes — or 1.3 percent — in a race that drew almost a million voters from across the state and took until midnight to finally tally. “I just want to thank Nevada for having enough confidence to take me back,” Heller said at ...

For Sale: My vote. Hey Obama, sell you my vote for a bailout.
As predicted - a LOT of split ticket and crossover voters out there that flat out rejected Harry Reid's stranglehold on this state.
Now let's see how graciously Berkley takes her defeat.

The voter turnout helped Obama and Horsford. The negative ads and the ethics investigation KILLED Berkley in this cycle.
Excellent! At least in this case, NV voters showed some decency & common sense. If we have to put up with politicians, at least choose those that have some semblance of integrity, honesty and ethics, unlike Berkley. I was appalled to be "represented" by her for many years and now, finally, I am rid of her. Well, not exactly. She'll be collecting a fat pension for years. But I still thank you, Nevada!
I felt that I had no choice in this race, so I voted for neither candidate.
Heller lost my vote when he undercut the on-line poker effort in the U.S. Senate.
Berkley? You gotta be kidding me.
Heller picks up the baton where Ensign left off, the baton that led to the largest unemployment and Real Estate failures in the nation. No memory, no gain, just wait. Keep waiting and get ready for the end that is almost here. This is the theme of popular Faith that puts screwball politicians into office. It's quite the rage.
Yea, sunjohn, as I worked for Obama's Organizing for America these last 2 months, I got the promise of many Romnians (like Romlians in Star trek!) to vote Berkeley so in case I wasright & Obama won we could kill obstructionism; no honorable GOPer was gunna vote for what he/she didn't realize was a teabagger.
Sad to see so many Obama /Heller tickets,or the "I didn't bother to do my homework " 'none of the above ' :-(
These Super PACs have got to GO!!! They are driving politics, politicians, policy, and campaigning.
Unfortunately, those " almost 45,000 votes that went to "None Of The Above," were the statement of many Nevada voters about how disturbing and distasteful the representation of candidates have become. Will Congresswoman Shelley Berkley go softly into that dark night, passing quietly OUT of public view and public service forever? IF she can clear her name from all these alledged ethics allegations, will she return with a vengence back to serve Nevada? I, for one, have never doubted her undying commitment to serve Nevadans and the United States of America. Not a moment, not a blink of my eye.
Only time will tell how the rest of this story unfolds. In the meantime, I pray that Heller will accomplish meaningful and effective legislation without all the political posturing and bickering that has been a sorry part of obstructive governance in Washington, D.C..
Blessings and Peace,
Star
Good riddance Berkley.
Bought and paid for by the SuperPacs. Hopefully, once in a while he will have some consideration for the people of Nevada.
It was Heller who said that he would need Obama supporters/voters in order to win. He achieved that. Now, let's see if he gives back what he got and works with the president on issues. Let's pray that he is not one of the obstructionists that kept us from picking up more speed these past four years.
I place the Blame for the Loss on Shelly Berkley herself. She has always been a Blue Dog "Can We All Just get Along- Middle of the road" Democrat. Many True Progressives could not get exited for her and I spoke with a Senior that voted against her because she did not like her hair. This should Never have happened, But when Dark Money Enters Politics, Nevadans can still be sold a Bill off Goods.
She would have been Far Superior to Dean Heller, who changed positions as many times as Mitt Romney to win this Election. So Las Vegas now we'll have a Northern Nevada Teabagger representing us and it will be interesting if his "Constituent Services" will be more than a Non Operational Phone Booth on LV Blvd. The Republican "Ownership Society" will be in Full Operation in his office.
This was the highest profile contest with lowest quality of candidates this election cycle.
I disliked both of them. Voted Berkeley.
Congrats to the Heller supporters. You won fair and square.
Good job.
She lost 80% of the nonpartisan vote, lost Washoe badly, and was wiped out completely in the rurals.
Too bad. Heller is a tea party buffoon.
I could not vote for either, Berkeley was such a poor choice, she clearly was not qualified, and Heller reminds me of a car salesman. Unfortunetly our Senate picks have been laughing stocks, Ensign now Heller A long Nevada tradition.

A huge "proud of you" to all the nonpartisans out there that defeated Berkley and stood up to the Reid machine and its thugs.
If YOU would like to join this movement because you're fed up with BOTH parties then call your county clerk and re-register as "nonpartisan". Leave your phone number off as well.
Would you also consider treason charges for Rick Scott of Florida for his voter suppression efforts?
I wonder if she's thinking the vacation was worth it now.
Shelly Berkley was her own worst enemy in this race. She chose to lobby for her husband's medical practice, without normal disclosure, and got discovered. Then she failed to acknowledge that she had made a serious error in judgment, in the matter.
Then she attempted, through her campaign, to accuse Heller of matters that were largely trumped up and exaggerated. Voters sensed this and became less inclined to vote for her. Ultimately she lost by a narrow margin, which is surprising in itself. It is most unfortunate that Rep. Berkley made such poor choices in conducting herself as a representative and political candidate. She played right in to the hand of the opposition. Obviously even Democrats found her conduct unacceptable.
I am not sad to see Shelly go...
But Star is correct!
We have got to curb the cash coming into these campaigns from 'secret' PAC sources.
Dean Heller was one of the Country's LARGEST RECIPIENTS of 'secret' PAC dough...millions and millions...
Of course money came in backing Berkley, but not on the scale of Senator Heller.
