Nevada Highway Patrol Trooper Loy Hixson said the vehicle had collided with another car on Eastern Avenue near U.S. 95, and then ricocheted into the doughnut shop.

Nevada Highway Patrol is investigating the incident.

To my fellow bloggers,
I know this location very well and have on occasion sampled the excellent cuisine that is provided, numerous times when I was a motorcycle policeman, mid 80's. Although every traffic collision is a bad incident and I wish and pray that the participants recover quickly and easily, I wonder why the NHP is handling the case. About the only way I see the case being handled by the NHP, is if the traffic collision originated near or on the off ramp from 95. Without this factor, that location is located in LVMPD'S jurisdiction. I have handled a traffic collision near this location before, and was curious about the jurisdiction issue.
Just an old cop reflecting,

It seems like every business and bus stop in our city needs to have lollicollumns for barriers from cars.
