Three finalists selected for Washoe district judge

The state Commission on Judicial Selection has named two lawyers in private practice and a lawyer with the Washoe County district attorney's office as the finalists to replace Washoe District Judge Steven Kosach, who has retired after 22 years on the bench.

The names of Elliott Sattler II of the district attorney's office and Lynne Simons and Lidia Stiglich, both in private practice, are being submitted to Gov. Brian Sandoval, who will make the appointment.

If the governor doesn't choose the replacement within 30 days, he is prohibited from making any other appointments to public office.

Whomever is selected will serve the remainder of Kosach's term, which expires in January 2015. The winner must run for election in 2014.

Ten lawyers applied for the job.
