A heated argument early Saturday morning in a Wynn hotel room led to the arrest of UFC Octagon Girl Arianny Celeste and her boyfriend, Metro Police said.
Celeste, 26, whose real name is Arianny Lopez, and her boyfriend, 34-year-old Praveen Chandra, each were arrested on a count of battery domestic violence, according to arrest reports released Tuesday.
A Wynn employee heard a crashing sound from a room and saw Lopez come running out of the room shortly after 4:30 a.m., the reports state.
Lopez told police her boyfriend choked her and grabbed her right arm during an argument about text messages, the reports said. Officers noted that Lopez had scratches on her right arm.
Detectives interviewed Chandra who said Lopez kicked him in the nose in a limousine, where the argument started, the reports said.
The argument escalated in the hotel room, at which point Chandra accused Lopez of throwing two vases at him, police said.
Chandra recorded parts of the argument on his cell phone, which showed him following Lopez around the hotel room and demanding to know why she kicked him in the nose, the reports said. Officers noted injuries to Chandra’s nose and scratches to his chest and arm.
“Chandra also continued to laugh at Lopez every time she said how she felt about him,” according to the arrest reports.
Chandra denied ever touching Lopez during the argument and told police he didn’t know how Lopez received cuts on her arms.
Police arrested both Lopez and Chandra and transported them to the Clark County Detention Center. Lopez was seen Saturday night at ringside at MGM Grand Garden Arena during UFC 146.
A hearing for the two in Las Vegas Justice Court is scheduled for 10:45 a.m. Friday.
The two have been dating for seven months, according to the arrest reports.
UFC President Dana White briefly addressed Lopez’s arrest during a news conference Saturday at UFC 146.
“She has been with us for over five years,” White told reporters. “She is a good girl and an amazing ambassador for the UFC. I don’t know the details and what happened, but we have her back and support her 100 percent.”
Lopez, who was born in Las Vegas and studied fitness management at UNLV, has been a UFC Octagon Girl since 2006, according to her personal website.

When it comes down to violence..the relationship needs to be terminated. Period. 7 months and theres already domestic violence. Go your own ways!!

What a waste of taxpayer dollars and Metro's limited resources. Evict them from the hotel and let them settle their differences privately at no public cost.

desertfox I completely agree, but this is only one incident. I invite anyone to go down to Las Vegas Justice court and sit in the domestic violence dept. It's like an assembly line of dysfunctional people churning out hundreds of DV cases every day. Seriously it would be an eye opener for those that aren't exposed to that side of this community

Metro has a duty to intervene and respond. When should Metro intervene? When one is lying in a pool of blood? Approx 1,500 to 2,000 people a year are killed in domestic violence incidents.
It is by far the most common call incident police have to deal with.
@tigermike: I understand and certainly appreciate the point you make. But this one boils down to officer discretion to arrest or let it go. I dealt with these issues for 20 years in the LEO community, and this is one they should have let the combatants settle themselves, given that neither combatant had an obvious physical advantage.
Sorry, but it is not "Domestic Violence" when a lovers' quarrel gets a bit physical. It is juvenile, dysfunctional behavior but it should not be considered DV.
@desertfox referred to the "assembly line of dysfunctional people churning out hundreds of DV cases every day". I am VERY familiar with the DA's domestic violence department and he is correct. It is proof that Domestic Violence is a cottage industry here in Southern Nevada. Many of those charged with the crime are naive and scared so they plead "no contest". They are fined and forced to pay for and attend classes. More people being charged with DV means more money for various victim assistance type groups. Police departments receive federal grants when they have a high number of DV arrests. It seems everyone has their hand out but nothing is really being done to help the true victims of the horrific crime of Domestic Violence.
I don't think it is EVER acceptable for a person to physically harm another person. But there are many emotionally immature couples who thrive on drama. They usually stick with being verbally abusive to each other but that could lead to someone throwing something at the other or maybe even a slap. Is that wrong? absolutely. Is it criminal assault? no way.
Preacher's Daughter---Sorry, when a "lovers quarrel" gets a bit physical it IS domestic violence. Also, a slap CAN be considered criminal assault/battery. Look it up.
To minimize these things is a disservice to those who have suffered such.
This idiotic fighting craze breeds violence. The more time you spend around violence the more it becomes acceptable. What would Jesus, Gandhi or Buddha do? Not this craziness that's for sure.
