ROTC adviser arrested in sexual assault of student

A high school ROTC adviser arrested Wednesday is accused of sexually assaulting a student.

Douglas Young, 49, of Las Vegas faces a felony charge of sexual misconduct with a student and was booked at the Clark County Detention Center, Metro Police said.

Police received information Tuesday regarding allegations of a teacher sexually assaulting a student at Sunrise Mountain High School in the east Las Vegas Valley, police said.

The investigation into this incident remains ongoing, police said. Anyone with any information concerning this incident, or anyone who may be an additional victim, is encouraged to contact Metro’s sexual assault detail at 828-3307 or Crime Stoppers at 385-5555, to remain anonymous.

  1. One has to wonder with all the arrests taking place of trusted public officials, just what in the world is wrong with our screening system. However, employing the proper type of psychologists and testing procedures is not only an extremely expensive process, it is certainly not foolproof either.

    So, I guess with a troubled economy and limited funding, parents are faced in either putting their children in a "glass house" of sorts, or spinning the roulette wheel and trusting public servants.

    It seems like there are one of these a day.

    One day it's a COP, the next day it s teacher.

    Sex crazed city, I guess.
