Fatality victim in Tuesday crash identified

The 43-year-old man who died Tuesday when his Jeep rolled over on U.S. 95 near Rancho Drive has been identified as Jose Lamela, the Nevada Highway Patrol said today.

Lamela was traveling north on the freeway approaching the Rancho Drive onramp around 1:40 p.m. when the left rear tire of his 2000 green Jeep Cherokee blew out, officials said. Lamela lost control of the Jeep, which struck the right concrete wall and then rolled over onto its roof.

He was pronounced dead at the scene by Clark County Coroner investigator Nova Jaramillo, officials said.

A female passenger was transported to University Medical Center with nonlife threatening injuries, officials said.

Lamela and his passenger were both wearing seatbelts at the time of the crash, officials said.
