Body found

Metro Police found a body Tuesday near the College of Southern Nevada's Henderson campus after a man walked into the Clark County Detention Center and confessed to a murder.

Ricardo Perez, 19, was booked into the detention center on counts of battery with a deadly weapon, murder with a deadly weapon and unrelated traffic warrants, police said. He’s being held without bail.

Police were called to the jail’s parking garage Tuesday afternoon, when Perez told authorities where to find the body of a homicide victim, authorities said.

Several hours later, Metro and Henderson Police located the deceased victim in a remote desert area near College Drive and U.S. 95, authorities said.

The Clark County Coroner’s Office will release the victim’s identity, cause and manner of death.

Anyone with information is asked to call Metro’s homicide section at 702-828-3521 or, to remain anonymous, contact Crime Stoppers at 702-385-5555.
