Caesars Palace headliner and superstar Celine Dion has won back the full strength of her voice. “She’s raring to go and can’t wait to return” to Las Vegas, I was told over the weekend. Celine resumes her residency at The Colosseum on June 9. “Her manager husband Rene Angelil told top Caesars officials over the weekend: “All is well. She’s in great form and can’t wait to get out of the house and back onstage.”
Celine, who had to cancel several shows, was diagnosed with a weakness in her right vocal chord, secondary to a viral illness, and medical specialists ordered six to eight weeks of voice rest in order to recover fully from the condition.
“She is completely well again, and the throat experts have given her a totally clean bill of health,” I learned.
PLAYBOY’S REPLACEMENT: It’s a wicked whisper and racy rumor, but I am reliably told that when The Playboy Club exits the Palms the first week of June, the space will be merged into the upstairs Moon and converted into a two-story mega-club. No word yet on whether it will have a new name, but I’m told the renderings for the double-decker are dramatic and edgy, and the latest cutting-edge nightclub technology will make it the most advanced playpen in town.
CARROT TOP CHALLENGE: Zany Luxor props comic headliner Carrot Top has challenged “Believe” magician Criss Angel to a rematch after losing a best-of-three in a televised arm-wrestling charity duel Saturday. Flamingo headliner magician Nathan Burton served as the judge during the fundraiser that Criss screened on his Magic Broadcasting Network. Criss told me that more than 50,000 users were logged in at one point to watch the match. “He doesn’t stand a chance, but I’m going to give him a second shot,” said Criss, who made two donations to the Make-a-Wish Foundation for the wins.
CONGRATULATIONS: The annual 2012 readers poll by Conde Nast Traveler voted Qua Baths & Spa at Caesars Palace into the Top 100 U.S. Resort Spas. Las Vegas-based rock artist Michael Goddard wed his longtime girlfriend Brittany Weber on Sunday night, with Criss Angel serving as best man and guests including Motley Crue rocker Vince Neil, Nathan Burton, yours truly, plus entertainment by their pal Stratosphere headliner Frankie Moreno.
Flamingo headliner George Wallace has after only four months on Twitter been named the 106th most recommended celebrity to follow. He also was named one of the Top 120 comics to follow on Twitter. It’s a first for Blue Man Group as they join with DJ Steve Aoki for a one-of-a-kind collaboration June 9 entertaining at the 16th Annual Electric Daisy Carnival at Las Vegas Motor Speedway from June 8-10. They will get their own stage for the champagne-spraying performance.
They’ve said “I Do” more than 4,000 times, and Tony and Tina after a lengthy honeymoon hiatus are about to start a new run of vows moving to Bally’s starting June 9 with a fresh new look and feel -- but the shenanigans at their reception will doubtless continue.
IT’S A RECORD! Two hundred guests took a seat for Project Dinner Table’s weekend dinner, making it the longest table since 2009 when the events began. Chef Philipp Norsetter of T-Bones Chophouse at Red Rock Resort served a five-course meal at Jackie Gaughan Plaza outside the El Cortez that included smoked trout salad, English pea and spring garlic soup, seafood paella, grilled flank steak and strawberry rhubarb pie. The event raised $4,000 for Child Focus and Through the Eyes of a Child Foundation. The next outdoor dinner is June 30.
