Letter to the editor:

Bush is not to blame for problems

This is in response to Richard O’Malley’s letter “Obama didn’t start us on this path,” published May 13.

Come on. Enough is enough!

It’s time to stop whining about the past administration and step up to the bar. The failed policies of this administration are sinking the ship. Obama has had plenty of time to rectify the problems he inherited but has only made the problems worse. For most of the George W. Bush economy, the activity was outstanding — low unemployment and extreme resiliency in spite of 9/11, Iraq, Afghanistan and Katrina. The housing bubble was not Bush’s fault.

Supporters of this administration need to own up to the failings of the policies over the past three-plus years for the stubborn refusal of this economy to move ahead. Obama and his administration failed repeatedly to focus on the issues that are vital to recovery and have instead played an ideologue game. Obama spent an inordinate amount of time trying to pass his health care law, which is loaded with costs that will burden this nation for years. His policies on green energy have missed the mark, which is the development of a greater-yet supply of fossil fuels that are in abundant quantities. There are burdensome environmental regulations that are holding back businesses from expanding and blocking job creation. The voters are fed up with this ridiculous game of blaming the current failings of this administration on Bush and his policies.
