It’s been about a year and a half since 20-year-old Alicia Lee, whose mother told police she was a prostitute, was found dead in her central Las Vegas Valley apartment, beaten to death with a belt and wrapped in a blanket.

Marshall C. Greene — who Lee’s mother told police was her daughter's boyfriend/pimp — had been scheduled to go to trial starting Monday before Clark County District Judge James Bixler on murder charges.

However, court records indicate that because the public defender’s office was not ready yet to try the case, Greene, 33, will have to wait about six months for his trial. The judge has reset the trial to begin Nov. 26. The state is seeking the death penalty in the case.

Police received a 911 call at 3:29 a.m Friday, Oct. 8, 2010, from a man who said his girlfriend wouldn't wake up. Police arrived at the Silverado Apartments at 3750 S. Arville St. and found a Lee’s body on the floor, police said.

Greene turned himself in at 7 a.m. the next day and is being held on a charge of murder with the use of a deadly weapon in the Clark County Detention Center.

According to a police report, Green had told police during the 911 call that his name was Mark Green. He also told them that he and his girlfriend had argued, “they got into it and she got hurt real bad and now he couldn’t wake her up.”

The autopsy showed that most of Lee's body was covered with cuts and bruises, which were mostly two linear marks connected with a curved end, indicative of being made by something folded in half and the looped end being used to strike the victim, police said.

According to the police report, Greene told officers he had struck Lee numerous times with a black leather belt, which he folded over, using the edge to strike her. He said the beating lasted about 30 minutes.

He told police he fell asleep next to Lee on the floor and when he woke up he found her unresponsive. He said he tried to perform CPR, but was unsuccessful. He told police he wrapped her in a blanket, then left the apartment to make the 911 call.
