A 59-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of drunken driving after a fatal hit-and-run accident Tuesday night in the eastern valley, Metro Police said.
The wreck happened about 11 p.m. on Nellis Boulevard north of Flamingo Road, police said.
A preliminary investigation indicates a pedestrian was crossing Nellis Boulevard from east to west when he was hit by a 1997 Nissan Altima, police said. The man, who was not in a marked crosswalk, was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.
The Nissan left the scene, but officers located the vehicle and driver a short time later, police said.
The driver, Tomas Del-Angel, was arrested on a count of DUI-alcohol and booked into the Clark County Detention Center, police said.
The accident resulted in the 52nd traffic-related fatality in Metro’s jurisdiction this year.
