It took hotel tycoon Steve Wynn two years to find the perfect New York City penthouse after he sold his Plaza Hotel co-op in 2010 for $24.4 million. Now the New York Post reports today that Steve has shelled out $70 million for a new, “swanky duplex” overlooking Central Park one block away.

The Post’s real-estate writer Jennifer Gould Keil says it is one of the priciest properties on the ultra-expensive Manhattan real-estate market -- and wheeler-and-dealer Steve had $7.5 million knocked off the original asking price.

Steve and his British wife Andrea will move into the 10,882-square-foot apartment on the top 30th and 31st floors at the Ritz Carlton Hotel on Central Park South -- just steps from Fifth Avenue -- that has a 900 square-foot living room, 15-foot-high ceilings, a media room, a library and an eat-in chef’s kitchen with windows overlooking the park.

Jennifer also reported that the lavish apartment, one of New York’s finest, no less, has an upper terrace with Central Park views, and there are four bedrooms on the lower level with an 800-square-foot dressing room.

She says that monthly maintenance fees are $18,057, and the apartment was purchased from Christopher Jeffries, a founding partner of the real-estate development firm Millennium Partners. He was married to Princess Yasmin Khan, daughter of actress Rita Hayworth, in 1989, but they divorced in 1993.

  1. Does it have indoor plumbing?

  2. Good for him, he earned his money and has created a lot of jobs and wealth in the process.

    We need more Steve Wynns.

  3. My cabin in the Ozarks sits on 243 acres. We rent the whole shebang for $25 a month. No plumbing, but a spring house! That's a little shed over the spring where crawdaddies linger until a racoon or a guy with a crawdaddy nabber nabs 'em for dinner.

A little solar water heater (black can) handles my DHW and a solar PV panel for electricity to charge our cell phone and laptop and guitar amp, radio, lED lights and coffee maker. 5 PV panels run the mini-split heat pump with a SEER 26 for the coolest cabin in the county, quiet too.

Total outlay for solar water heat, solar PV and mini-split HP, w/ battery backup = $2286.73.

Total monthly outlay including rent, parking, fishing rights, utilities = $25.00 No trash, no water bill, no utility bill.

View is quite similar to Steve's, but no cars, no thugs, no street noise - no street! Just a gravel road at the end of the 150' lane. Surrounded by oaks and hickories and a few stands of tall pine.

Like smoked trout? Sweet and sour Squirrel? Garden fresh veggies? Distant neighbors, whispering oaks and rustling pines. All on less than a dollar a day!

We could live several hundred years on what Steve and his new babe spend on maintenance in one year!! Plus we didn't fork over any 70 mill for the lease/deed!

  4. Oh and did I mention my girlie friend and I are attending MIT and Harvard?? Right in the comfort of our cabin...

  5. Rich is NOT
    what cha GOT
    or where ya live...

Rich is who is beside you and how you give.

  6. Great Steve enjoy life while you can! The man has spent millions on a new pad creating/keeping many jobs! and no taxpayer funds needed..he is a walking stimulus! I know his eyesight is poor, I hope he is able to enjoy that view, God Bless!

  8. All that penthouse was paid for by taking dealer's tips.

  9. to our republican friends...
    steve wynn is a god...
a living and breathing and walking god...
    fools...
    bottom line boys and girls...
the top 1% own 90% of the wealth in this country...
    and it's getting worse...
and it's time for those republicans that are not in the top 1%...
which is almost all of them...
    to look in the mirror...
and come to the painful realization that they are just slitting their own throats...
    or worse...
    the children's throats...
    WAKE UP CLOWNS!!!

  10. imagine if mr. wynn had donated $70 million dollars to local schools and colleges to help train the next generation of casino employees from the dishwasher up to the head of IT. instead he spent $70 million dollars on a glorified warehouse for his enormous ego--and its trophy.
but bravo, mr. wynn. bully for you.

  11. His face just looks so.. odd. Is that plastic surgery or just aging?

  12. And yet there are still a lot of people living in this town who think they can win in the casino. There's one guaranteed winner in the casino...the owner. Steve Wynn.

Nice place but too ornate and old money for me.

  13. Comrade Wynn's "trickle up" economics is working and it shows here with his $70 million duplex. It is money taken from the workers here in Nevada and also from his communist China ventures. At least he didn't squander his millions on Newt Gingrich, like his cohort, Sheldon Adelson. Now that Newt is unemployed, perhaps he can get a job polishing the knobs of Comrade Wynn's $70 million duplex???

    Yours in Christ,
Rob Whitetrash - Pahrump Deluxe Trailer Park ( somewhat less than $70 million)

  14. Good for you, Steve!

  15. "imagine if cbarrious had donated the money he spent on whatever he uses to access the internet to local schools and colleges instead of a computer to spread the ideas of his enormous ego..."
