Praise to the Sun for its story, “A Downtown Original,” on the one and only Jackie Gaughan — a living legend! Gaughan is the best, most beloved casino owner in the history of our state. He and the El Cortez proved to the Strip CEOs that you can treat people with respect and goodness and yet become a multimillionaire.
A fact many don’t know: Jackie Gaughan catered to us ordinary people by popularizing penny slots. Now all casinos have them.
Born of woman, born of man, there’s none greater than Jackie Gaughan, in all of Nevada land.
