Accident

Metro Police are investigating a crash where an elderly woman getting into a parked pickup truck was crushed by a car in the east Las Vegas Valley.

A woman in her 60s or 70s was getting into the passenger side of a red GMC pickup truck parked on the 4300 block of East Harmon Avenue near U.S. 95 when a white Chevrolet Malibu hit her, police said.

Police received a call around 6 p.m. regarding a driver of a Chevrolet who was headed westbound on Harmon Avenue who had crossed the center median traveling the wrong direction before crushing the woman into her truck, police said.

The woman sustained head trauma during the collision and is in serious but stable condition at Sunrise Hospital and Medical Center, police said.

Police say the Chevrolet driver is at fault and alcohol appears to be a factor.

No further information was immediately available.
