Map

A 25-year-old Las Vegas man died Friday night after his car ran a red light, according to Metro Police.

Police said that about 10:17 p.m. Friday, a man driving a 2007 Ford Mustang west on Sahara Avenue was passing Jones Boulevard when he entered the intersection with a red signal.

His car collided with a 1999 Ford Escort, causing the Mustang to spin and hit a pole, police said. The Ford Escort also rotated and slid to a stop. Debris from the accident hit another car at the intersection.

Police said the driver of the Mustang was pronounced dead at the scene and his passengers, two minors, were transported to the hospital with minor injuries.

The driver of the Ford Escort, 18-year-old Bailey Wallis, remained at the scene, police said. She and her two passengers suffered minor injuries.

The accident is still under investigation and is the 28th traffic related fatality in LVMPD’s jurisdiction this year.
