Man arrested on suspicion of DUI after pedestrian is struck by vehicle in hit and run

A suspected drunk driver was arrested Friday afternoon after he allegedly hit a pedestrian and fled the scene, according to Metro Police.

Police said Ines Munoz, a 40-year-old Las Vegas man, was booked into the Clark County Detention Center for felony DUI and felony hit and run charges after the incident near Mountain Vista Street and Margarete Avenue.

According to the accident report, Munoz was driving his 1999 Ford F150 pick-up northbound on Mountain Vista Street in the right travel lane north of Margarete Avenue when he veered into the sidewalk and struck a pedestrian.

Police said Munoz failed to stop and fled the scene.

No information is currently available about the pedestrian, who was taken to Sunrise Hospital’s trauma center with life-threatening injuries.

Police later located Munoz at his residence, where they arrested him.

The accident is under investigation.
