      High-fiving history

Zappos set a Guinness World Record recently, gathering 3,504 people together—at the Orleans Arena during the West Coast Conference Men’s Championship game—to high-five one another simultaneously (the previous record was 2,176). Just another example of the company doing something pretty damn cool. So now, not only is Zappos CEO Tony Hsieh dedicated to his company’s philosophy and the revitalization of Downtown, he really wants his employees to just … have fun. We’ll high-five to that.

      Brit invasion?

The latest fast-flying rumor in Las Vegas is that Britney Spears is not only turning down $10 million to appear on the next season of The X Factor, but that she wants a residency at a Strip property. To an older but supposedly wiser Britney, we offer the following observations: 1. $10 million to just sit there is not too shabby; 2. Cee Lo. Shania. Celine. Elton. That’s a lot of competition; 3. We saw you perform “Gimme More” in Vegas. Just sayin’.

      Was it 'GTA'?

Las Vegan Bruce Fromong, a key witness in the 2007 O.J. Simpson armed robbery case, was fined $350 and ordered to pay $140 restitution after pleading no contest to taking a video game and briefcase from the Nellis Air Force Base military exchange. He claims to remember nothing, alleging he was under the influence of a combination of pain medications at the time. Just a reminder in case you missed it—this is the guy who brought down O.J. Simpson.
