Crash kills Colorado resident

Nevada Highway Patrol officials say alcohol may have been a factor in a crash Sunday that killed a 24-year-old Colorado resident.

Donnie Jones of Cortez, Colo., was pronounced dead at the scene of a collision on U.S. 95 near Decatur Boulevard at around 6:35 a.m., highway officials said.

Jones was driving a black Pontiac Sunfire traveling north on U.S. 95 when a gray Chevy Tahoe headed northbound on Decatur Boulevard approached the intersection of the highway’s off-ramp, officials said.

Preliminary investigation shows that both vehicles entered the intersection when the Tahoe stuck the driver’s side of the Pontiac, officials said.

The passenger of the Pontiac was transported to University Medical Center trauma in critical condition, officials said. The driver of the Chevy Tahoe suffered minor injuries.
