Letter to the editor:

Agendas distract from issues

The citizens of the United States have too long endured the purposeful campaign of malicious misinformation that currently pervades our political process.

If you watch enough C-Span, CNN, and other similar sources, you will see politician after politician rise from his or her seat to quote facts that are supposed to be true and reflective of some national trend or situation that needs to be addressed. Time after time, real research leads to the conclusion that far too many of the “facts” touted by these politicians are opinion and innuendo dressed up as fact.

The first tragedy for all of us is that some of these politicians will either get elected to or remain in public office, where they will continue to push their pet projects by supplying more misinformation for us to consider.

The second, and much larger tragedy, is that real solutions to the real problems we face will be delayed until we first wade through all of the misinformation that has been placed on our table.

Progress will continue to elude us until we can separate fact from fiction, and then deal with reality in a logical way.

Politicians who doctor the facts to fit their own agendas will not get my vote. They are as guilty as any foreign agent or terrorist of harming our country.
