Scene of pileup

A major, multiple-vehicle accident Friday morning at Tropicana Avenue and Pecos Road has sent numerous people to hospitals, according to Metro Police.

Although details were few, the accident occurred about 11:30 a.m. when four to five cars collided, Metro Lt. Walter Dodds said.

The accident resulted in multiple injuries, with all of those involved being transported to University Medical Center or Sunrise Hospital, Dodds said. The extent of the injuries was unclear.

Metro Spokesman Bill Cassell said the accident caused authorities to close Pecos Road northbound from Reno Avenue to Tropicana.
