If you have lived here a while, you probably think you know Las Vegas pretty well — its resorts, its parks, its neighborhoods, its roads and highways. You drive by them, or on them, every day.

But to view our valley from above? That’s a whole different perspective, and an amazing one at that, where our environment is seen in fanciful geometric forms that might not be instantly recognizable.

Sun photographer Sam Morris, on assignment for our sister publication, the Las Vegas Weekly, created an amazing collection of aerial photographs depicting the Las Vegas Valley from above. A larger selection of them will be presented in a show, “Forms from Above,” that will run during March at the Brett Wesley Gallery in the Arts District, 1112 S. Casino Center Blvd.

An opening reception will be held today from 5 to 8 p.m. and on Friday from 5 to 9 p.m. Regular gallery hours are noon to 6 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday.

This will be your chance to get over Las Vegas.
