Blaze destroys home in North Las Vegas; multiple dogs killed

Map

A fire at a home in North Las Vegas displaced a family and killed multiple dogs on Saturday, North Las Vegas Fire Department officials said.

Firefighters received the call to go to the home on North Decatur Boulevard, near West Alexander Road, at around 9:30 a.m., and needed more than 15 minutes to put out the flames, officials said.

The fire scorched much of the yard and the back half of the home, officials said. No injuries occurred to the family members, but North Las Vegas Fire spokesman Cedric Williams estimated that five to seven dogs were destroyed in the blaze. He did not know the exact number. Two dogs survived, officials said.

Investigators are on scene determining the cause of the fire.
