A fire at a home in North Las Vegas displaced a family and killed multiple dogs on Saturday, North Las Vegas Fire Department officials said.
Firefighters received the call to go to the home on North Decatur Boulevard, near West Alexander Road, at around 9:30 a.m., and needed more than 15 minutes to put out the flames, officials said.
The fire scorched much of the yard and the back half of the home, officials said. No injuries occurred to the family members, but North Las Vegas Fire spokesman Cedric Williams estimated that five to seven dogs were destroyed in the blaze. He did not know the exact number. Two dogs survived, officials said.
Investigators are on scene determining the cause of the fire.

How sad. Right up the street from our house. God bless this family and the animals that were lost. We saw the Red Cross there right away. Hopefully this family gets the help that they need.
People don't know how to be safe. There has been a fire almost EVERY DAY in the past few weeks. Why? Those poor dogs. I feel bad!! Rest in peace, little doggies. :( I hate hearing in the news that dogs died because of carelessness. Their owners suck, because they probably disgarded cigarettes improperly, or did something that was totally unsafe. That's what is happening here in the valley lately. People sucking, because that's what people do best in this city. Fires, fires, fires. There is no end in sight. One of the fire officials said there was 800 calls to the fire department the other day. 800!!! And the day before, 750 calls! Why??? People are dumb, that's why.
Its a good thing the City didn't lay off the 60-fire fighters on Friday because it appears that they were/are needed. Just sorry to hear about those who did lose their jobs last Friday, dam shame. Further shame that no one reported on the city laying off these fire fighters.
