UNLV baseball:

Current Rebel and four incoming recruits taken in the MLB draft

UNLV junior outfielder Brandon Bayardi and two local UNLV commits were selected on the third and final day of the MLB First-Year Player Entry Draft.

Bayardi was taken by the Minnesota Twins in the 36th round. Green Valley second baseman Evan Van Hoosier was drafted by the Philadelphia Phillies in the 26th round and Centennial right-handed pitcher Bryan Bonnell was picked in the 31st round by the Chicago Cubs.

Van Hoosier and Bonnell joined fellow incoming Rebels Ron Miller and Mike Meyers, who were both taken on the second day of the draft. Miller, a third baseman from Junipero Serra (Calif.) was drafted by the Miami Marlins in the 10th round while Meyers, a Silverado grad, was taken in the 12th round by the Boson Red Sox.
