Man suffers bullet wound when stopping burglary attempt

A Las Vegas man used a handgun to prevent his apartment from being robbed, but he suffered a bullet wound to his left hand in the process, according to Metro Police.

Officials said the suspect was breaking into the apartment on Tamarus Street, near East Pebble Road, around 10 a.m. when the owner pulled out his gun. The two wrestled for the gun when the shot was fired, according to officials.

The suspect fled the scene on foot, according to reports, outrunning the police. The apartment resident was taken to Sunrise Hospital to treat a minor injury.

Metro Police are still on the look out for the suspect, who they think knew the owner of the apartment.
