Water main break cuts service to 40 homes in North Las Vegas

Water Main Break

Approximately 40 homes in North Las Vegas are without water after a residential water main broke on Ellis Street early Tuesday afternoon, North Las Vegas spokeswoman Juliet Casey said.

Casey said the eight-inch underground pipe broke around 1:45 p.m., and began gushing water down the residential street near Cary and Haddock Avenues for nearly an hour. Utility crews were able to reduce the flow of water and shut off valves that feed into the pipe around 3:30 p.m., Casey said.

Casey said it would take utility crews between four and six hours to repair the pipe. She said utility crews believed natural wear and tear caused the break.
