Two-day search ends; 80-year-old Pahrump man found dead

An 80-year-old Pahrump man reported missing Sunday was found dead Monday afternoon.

About 3 p.m. Monday, a Nye County sheriff’s deputy spotted Raymond Callahan’s white Hyundai Santa Fe on the outskirts of town, officials said. Callahan, who was in the car, was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities discovered no signs of foul play.

Callahan had left his residence Sunday morning presumably to grab coffee, as he often did on Sunday. Sheriff’s deputies and detectives searched local establishments and checking surveillance video for signs of him. Pahrump Search and Rescue continued to look for him Monday with assistance from a Metro Police helicopter.
