Police motorcycle hit in crash; pickup driver faces DUI charge

North Las Vegas traffic crash

A motorcyclist was in critical condition and a driver was in police custody after a crash Saturday near North Las Vegas Airport.

About 8:05 p.m., a Ford Ranger was westbound on Lake Mead Boulevard when it made a left turn near Victor Way and collided with an eastbound Harley-Davidson police motorcycle, Metro Police said.

The motorcyclist, a 27-year-old man, was taken to University Medical Center with critical injuries. Metro has not released his name.

Police arrested the pickup driver, 45, on charges of driving under the influence. The man and his female passenger, 31, were not injured.

The crash is under investigation.
