In Michael K. Casler’s letter to the editor, “Parties don’t seem to deserve support,” he points out the Republican Party and the Democratic Party both are causing deficit problems. He then asks, “Now, please remind me again which of these wonderful parties I should be supporting.”
In Nevada, we have 12 other parties he could support. Three of these parties have ballot access. The largest of these 12 parties is the Independent American Party, which has 17 candidates running in this year’s elections. In the Nevada Senate race in District 1, there are only two candidates: an Independent American candidate and a Democrat.
For voters like Mr. Casler who are not happy with the two-party system, you can make a difference by voting for one of the other political parties in Nevada.
